When the government used the police and Chhatra League to control the situation, it turned into a massacre, in which many students and ordinary people were killed. One of the demands of the people in this movement was the resignation of Sheikh Hasina. Under increasing pressure and the determination of the army chief, Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country to neighboring India. As a result, the people of the country were freed from the long dictatorship of almost 16 years. This uprising was not limited to the abolition of the quota system; it turned into a mass uprising of the people against the dictatorial government. This movement in 2024 brought new hope to the nation and was recognized by many as Bangladesh's second independence.
